Phidata rebranded to Agno in January 2025 and is an open-source Python framework for building production-grade AI agents with memory, knowledge retrieval, tool use, and multi-agent orchestration. Agno 2.0 (September 2025) introduced AgentOS, a FastAPI-based runtime with 50+ endpoints for session management, tracing, and evaluation. It creates agents in ~2 microseconds with 3.75 KiB memory overhead, targeting developers who need high-performance agentic systems. Key features: - Agent creation in ~2 microseconds with minimal memory footprint - Native multimodal support (text, images, audio, video) - AgentOS production runtime with FastAPI REST API and session management - Agentic RAG: agents decide when to retrieve from knowledge bases - Multi-agent team orchestration with streaming - 40+ built-in tools (web search, SQL, file ops, APIs)
Open source, free to self-host. Agno Cloud (monitoring/platform): beta, pricing not publicly listed as of June 2026.
